Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre to begin reopening July 20

Jul 7, 2020 | 9:47 AM

RDC has announced that the gradual re-opening of certain spaces within the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre will begin July 20.

The Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone and Border Paving Running Track will be first to reopen, with limited hours and capacity. A maximum of 30 people will be allowed in the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone at one time.

High-intensity physical or cardio activity equipment such as treadmills and elliptical machines will be organized so that every third item can be used, the college says.

Throughout July and August, the areas will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Throughout July and August, the running track will have the times available specifically for runners on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The middle lane of the track will be closed. The inside lane will be used for running, and the outside lane will remain open for passing. A maximum of four people will be permitted on the running track at one time, with walking allowed during non-designated running times.

RDC says the Larkaun Homes Squash Courts will remain closed for now, and drop-in activities will not be available at this time.

Personal training is available. Assessments will be conducted virtually, until further notice.

Fitness classes at the centre will resume in the fall. Community change rooms will be closed until further notice, but washrooms will be open.

“The opening of other spaces within the Centre will be assessed on an ongoing basis, according to AHS guidelines,” RDC says.
