Lacombe’s Jo(e) Social Media recipient of Canadian Chamber grant

Jul 5, 2020 | 2:25 PM

A Lacombe business is getting help to move forward through the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Relief Fund.

Jo(e) Social Media Inc. is one of 62 recipients of a grant worth $10,000 from the CCC.

“We’ve been limited in what we could do with the Jo(e) Youth Creative, given the protocol required and the loss of sponsorships and income from social media training that was supposed to support free programming, says Jo Phillips. “Now, we can push ahead with supporting kids and parents in a bigger way, in Central Alberta. We’re so excited.”

More than 1,100 small businesses across Canada applied for the grants, with recipients being those that best demonstrated their financial strain, yet ability to use the grant to change or innovate and sustain the business’s recovery.

The fund was managed by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and made possible through the generosity of Salesforce.

“Reviewing the applications was both heartbreaking and inspiring. We saw how seriously small businesses across Canada have been hurt by the pandemic, but we also saw how determined these entrepreneurs are to preserve their employees’ jobs and to serve their customers and their communities,” says Perrin Beatty, president and CEO, Canadian Chamber. “Today is a happy waypoint, not an end point, and we won’t stop finding new ways to help Canada’s businesses reopen and recover. We’ll be with them every step of the way.”
