Drayton Valley RCMP report: June 25 – July 2

June 25

9:18 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Complainant reported her 4-year-old missing. Child was a kitchen window escape artist and was located nearby.

9:22 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reports someone tried to register a cell phone and open bank account under his name. Under investigation with possible suspect.

11:09 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a black Ram pickup speeding on Hwy 22 through Drayton Valley, heading North. Passed complainant at high speed, “passing everyone.” Matching plate provided, under investigation.

11:11 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her 10-year-old son drove off in the family’s F-350 from an appointment in town. Members located and stopped the truck on Hwy 22 north of town, at which time the child driver backed into a police truck, causing significant damage. No charges possible as the child is under 12.

11:17 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a burgundy Ram pickup swerving on Hwy 22 and then going to a residence by the golf course. Members unable to attend due to above call for service.

2:05 pm – Drayton Valley – Information received regarding a possible offence in BC. Unable to confirm any related offence, information forwarded to appropriate BC RCMP detachment.

2:30 pm – Yellowhead County – Information received via Fish and Wildlife that someone had called the anonymous Poachers Line reporting 4-5 campers were stealing power as they had plugged in at a remote lease site. No attendance, location would be in Edson RCMP area and quite remote.

5:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Complainant reported receiving unwanted texts from an unknown person. Investigation determined the suspect was in Westlock and likely unaware he was texting the wrong number. Complainant advised to block the number, suspect called and warned to stop as he hadn’t reached his ex’s number.

5:49 pm – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Members dispatched to a collision between a white Dodge pickup and a gravel truck. Investigation determined that the 16-year-old driver of the truck was travelling downhill on RR 71 near Willey West and due to road dust and speed, drove into the back of a gravel truck. Alcohol not suspected. Driver of pickup taken to hospital with significant injuries. Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Fire assisted and extrication of the driver required jaws of life. Passenger had only minor injuries and the gravel truck driver was unscathed.

7:10 pm – Brazeau County – RR 71 – While members were still dealing with the above collision, a truck stopped and the driver spoke to the member, showing obvious signs of impairment. The driver was detained at the scene and eventually arrested for failing to comply with a breath demand and driving while suspended. The truck he was driving was impounded for 60 days due to prior offences.

7:28 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/50 St South – Member observed an older red pickup and ran the plate which was found to be inactive for over a year and not attached to such a truck. A traffic stop was conducted which lead to the driver being charged with several offences, including driving while unauthorized. The truck was impounded for 30 days and the driver issued a summons to appear in court. Of note: the driver has an upcoming trial for two similar prior offences, and multiple prior convictions.

7:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 34 St – Complainant reported a vehicle abandoned off the road and noted the lights were still on and there were skid marks visible. Member attended and determined the car had suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure and couldn’t be driven. Vehicle was towed by the owner.

8:07 pm – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported a smashed up blue car headed from RR 80 East on Twp Rd 503, no plate attached. Members unable to attend at the time of call, patrols made later with no success.

9:44 pm – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – First of two 911 calls received from a lease site. No emergency, phone line issue.

10:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported ongoing noise from an apartment on the next floor. Members attended and had a discussion with the noisy neighbour about keeping it down.

June 26

12:59 am – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Second call of the night for abandoned 911 call from a lease site. Phone line issues, no attendance made.

7:26 am – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Information received that a 15-year-old female missing from Breton had been seen at 7/11 around midnight. Members investigated and the missing female’s mother called to advise she had located her daughter. Member called and spoke to the girl who is looking to stay with family or friends in town.

9:23 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting a person trespassing at the Omniplex. Member attended. A door malfunction occurred, the door did not lock and males entered believing it was open.

10:22 am – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting an abandoned vehicle. Older grey Oldsmobile parked on Twp Rd 512. Member contacted the registered owner who advised the vehicle had broken down that morning.

12:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Commercial alarm going off. Member attended, front door left unlocked. No sign of break in.

12:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting ex is stalking them. Ongoing issue. Matter is still under investigation.

2:41 pm – Drayton Valley – RR 81 – Complainant reporting a dog bite. Injury to calf.

2:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant called 911 to report male is being violent. Yelling heard in background. Members attended and spoke with all parties. Male arrested for assault.

2:59 pm – Tomahawk area – Complainant reporting a capsized boat with two males near Berrymoor Bridge. Members attended, boys located nearby, no injuries.

3:27 pm – Brazeau county – RR 70 – Complainant reporting an abandoned quad. Unknown person parked a grey quad at the end of their driveway. Member attended location, quad was gone.

3:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Complainant reporting a possible sighting of a missing youth. Possibly observed getting into a grey Dodge Ram 1500. Member called the detachment where they had been reported missing. Youth had been located earlier in the day.

8:04 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting an erratic driver. Older model white pickup truck came to the edge of the complainant’s gate spinning tires and tearing up gravel. Last seen heading towards RR 81. Member attended location and made patrols in area. Vehicle not located.

8:27 pm – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting known male is pushing their trike while screaming and yelling. Headed towards the campground. Member attended and located trike.

10:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Request to assist EMS with possible overdose. Member attended, however, all parties had departed. Male had been revived through use of Narcan. Parties showed up at MAT program 3 hours later.

11:03 pm – Lodgepole area – Complainant reporting a 911 hangup from lease site. Member attended, all gates secure, no workers observed.

11:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting 2 males who were very drunk left Mr. Mikes in a blue F-150 with white tank. Members located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Driver blew a fail and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving.

June 27

12:12 am – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting fireworks ongoing for past 15 minutes. Member called complainant back who advised the fireworks had stopped.

1:35 am – Drayton Valley – 46 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of keys 6 hours ago. Believes friend stole keys and they are refusing to give them back. Members attended and spoke with complainant who advised they had been letting their friend stay at their residence for past week. Members spoke with friend who advised they dropped off the keys at the complainant workplace. Keys located.

3:16 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting suspicious activity. Banging on door and ringing doorbell, person yelling to open the door. Complainant advised it was a male. Member attended location and patrolled the area. Male not located.

10:34 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Warning for speeding issued.

11:46 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle south of Violet Grove. Vehicle is a green mid-2000 Chevrolet Silverado that continues to drive past their residence. Member attended area and patrolled with negative results.

12:13 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious male looking into vehicles. Male with dark hair and short beard wearing a jean jacket, jeans, and cowboy boots is going into people’s yards and looking into vehicles. Member attended and located known male who was in their own vehicle and lives nearby.

2:45 pm – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Request to assist EMS with an ATV collision. Two 15-year-old males with injuries. Members attended, both EMS and Fired department on scene. One male transported to hospital.

4:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Canadian Tire – Complainant reporting an aggressive shoplifter. Male and female stole bike handles. Members attended. Female purchased bike handles, however, screw missing and instead of going to the front counter decided to switch the item themselves. No theft.

6:30 pm – Drayton Valley – MacKenzie Avenue – Complainant reporting their landlord is harassing them. Landlord continues to text them and coming by and taking pictures.

8:15 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Member responded to a 911 hangup from the RV park. Members located the source of the call. 2 females both intoxicated. Queries indicated there was a no-contact order between them. One female arrested for breach of conditions.

9:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting a dark tan newer Dodge Ram with tinted windows is driving erratically. Driver had passed vehicle on solid lane. Member conducted patrols in area, vehicle not located.

10:04 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued violation ticket for failing to wear seatbelt.

June 28

12:54 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting a loud party. Members attended location and spoke with occupants. They were having a family bonfire in the backyard and advised they would quiet down.

1:55 am – Drayton Valley – Western Trailer Court – Complainant reporting a loud party. Members attended and spoke with occupant who was very intoxicated, however, did agree to tone down the party.

3:01 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male yelling outside. Member attended location, male had left. Patrols made in area, male not located.

5:04 am – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer court – Complainant calling to request a wellbeing check on female who advised they had fallen and couldn’t get up. Members were enroute when they were advised all ok.

9:57 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting they were travelling on Hwy 22 when they hit a deer. Damage to passenger side of vehicle.

12:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting a lost cell phone. Members attended location as complainant is staying at the MAT program and believes someone is going through their belongings. Complainant was intoxicated and believes they lost the phone in the woods.

2:07 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a warning for speeding.

2:40 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a taxi was putting students at risk from the Holy Trinity Grad Parade as they were driving down 50 Avenue during the parade. Driver warned.

3:22 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting their 1997 grey Dodge 2500 with a red canopy was stolen sometime over the weekend.

4:56 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for failure to provide their drivers licence. Warning also issued for speeding.

10:14 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant calling to report a custody dispute. Complainant and ex share custody and were supposed to exchange the child at 10 pm. Ex says they cannot transport child.

10:58 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reporting they were driving on Hwy 620 when they hit a deer causing damage to vehicle.

June 29

12:13 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting suspicious vehicle outside their residence. Male is in the drivers seat. Vehicle is a green 1999 Dodge Ram. Member attended and conducted a traffic stop. Driver upset as they had their dog at the vet and will need to be put down.

7:44 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Violation ticket for failure to produce drivers licence issued. Warning issued for speeding.

10:05 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Warning issued to driver for speeding.

10:08 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an abandoned silver car with no licence plate. Member attended, vehicle located, not stolen.

10:54 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a warning for non-factory window tint.

11:14 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued violation ticket for no mud flap.

11:38 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued violation ticket for operating a motor vehicle without registration.

12:44 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Members called to an abandoned vehicle, grey SUV with front end damage is blocking the road. Members attended, vehicle had been moved prior to arrival.

2:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Complainant attended the detachment to report the tailgate of their 2012 Chevrolet Silverado had been stolen.

2:43 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Request from peace officer to assist with dismantling a tent city near the Omniplex. Member attended, all parties were cooperative and calm.

3:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Carlton East – Complainant calling to request members attend to keep the peace while they serve an eviction notice.

3:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant calling to report two individuals from the MAT program got into a fight, one of them pulled a knife. Members attended, one party located and arrested. Held for a Bail hearing and remanded into custody. Other male not yet located.

7:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a warning for failing to stop at stop sign.

8:12 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Warning issued to driver for not wearing a seat belt.

June 30

1:04 am – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting a suspicious black SUV. Suspicious vehicle was unmarked police vehicle conducting inquiries and patrols.

2:18 am – Brazeau County – Complainant calling to report an individual on a lease site. Several items had been removed from buildings.

2:59 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Request to assist Fire Department with a vehicle fire.

9:19 am – Drayton Valley – Walmart parking lot – Complainant calling to report they observed a vehicle they had seen reported stolen on Facebook. Vehicle is a brown/gold Duramax with a hood stack. Members attended area, vehicle located, members attempted a traffic stop and vehicle fled.

10:51 am – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Complainant reporting possible sighting of the stolen truck with hood stack in Tomahawk area. Member patrolled area, vehicle not located.

7:19 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a red Chevrolet Camaro. Patrols in area made, vehicle not located.

9:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Suspicious phone call received from a male. Male talking erratically. No further calls received.

11:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for burnt-out tail light.

July 1

12:26 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting unwanted female outside harassing customers. Members attended.

12:43 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for no registration.

2:00 am – Brazeau County – 911 open line. Ongoing issue at least site.

2:54 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Male passenger arrested on outstanding warrant and for breaching curfew conditions.

3:18 am – Drayton Calley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting a male is breaching their no-contact order. Male is in a truck in the parking lot. Male had called them names when they walked by.

1:33 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended detachment to report their 12-year-old did not want to go to their house as per custody order. Member spoke with all parties involved. Advised them to have the custody order revisited.

1:53 pm – Drayton Valley – Country Style Trailer Court – Report of a dispute received. Complainant stated that ex had broken into their residence and stolen a bunch of items. Member attended, ex returned items.

5:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Mackenzie Avenue – Members called to a female in distress. Members attended, female was concerned that ex had bugged their residence.

6:01 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a female in distress behind Indigo Pets. Members attended location and located female matching description. Female was not in distress.

7:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – 911 abandoned calls. Members attended area calls had originated from and conducted neighbourhood inquiries with negative results.

10:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant advised their friend sent them a text advising someone was going to shoot them and to send the police. Members attended, no threats, person suffering from paranoia episode.

10:34 pm – Drayton Valley – Museum area – Complainant reporting several vehicles parked on the lawn. Parked to view the fireworks.

10:53 PM – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious person banging like they were trying to get into their residence. Members attended, complainant advised they thought someone was in the basement. Members cleared the basement, no signs of forced entry. Banging noises could have been the fireworks.

July 2

1:04 am – Brazeau County – Report of a dispute in apartment upstairs. Members attended and spoke to the complainant who advised one of the individuals just left. Matter is still under investigation.

2:09 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting an intoxicated driver in a black Ford Journey. Members attended area, vehicle not located. Members attended Registered Owner’s residence who advised they had been driving their friends and parents back from the bar. Not intoxicated.

3:12 am – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Complainant reporting intoxicated male with a gun. Third call from same complainant this date. Complainant states ex is on the roof with a gun. Members attended, no sign of ex. Complainant suffering from paranoia.
