Rocky RCMP Report June 11-16

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of June 11-16.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

June 11

7:00 P.M. – Gas & dash at gas station on O’Chiese First Nation.

9:54 P.M. – Stolen licence plate reported in Nordegg.

10:13 P.M. – Complaint of a male threatened with a sawed-off shotgun by 4 unknown males on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve.

June 12

5:34 A.M. – B&E to a garage reported in RMH. 2 male suspects also seen checking door handles of vehicles in the area.

6:20 A.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit located a male passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in RMH. The adult male was arrested for breaching his probation and a search of the vehicle revealed crack cocaine & meth. He is to appear in RMH Provincial Court in August to answer to the charges.

3:44 P.M. – Vehicle with a stolen licence plate located at trailer park in RMH. Driver fled when approached by police. 2 passengers, which had just prior exited the vehicle, were arrested and refused to say who the male driver was.

9:50 P.M. – Complaint of loud music from random campers in the Abraham Lake area.

June 13

4:23 A.M. – Police attempted to stop a speeding pickup truck which crashed into a parked vehicle in an alley in RMH. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a resident’s backyard and was later located a number of blocks away. He also had outstanding arrest warrants & further charges were laid. A Judicial Interim Release hearing was held and he was remanded into custody to appear in RMH Provincial Court June 17.

11:36 A.M. – Canada Post mailboxes pried open on 54 Ave in RMH.

5:49 P.M. – Report of a newer pickup stuck in the muskeg after going off-roading in the Nordegg area.

June 14

10:20 A.M. – Report of a suspicious vehicle, with a stolen licence plate, at a RMH Motel. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver who did not have registration nor insurance on the vehicle. As well, there was liquor in reach of the driver along with a pellet pistol under the driver’s seat. A number of violation tickets were laid. The vehicle was towed and seized for 30 days.

5:22 P.M. – Report of an assault which occurred on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Police attended and arrested an adult female who was released to appear in court on a later date.

6:33 P.M. – Report of a vehicle shot at while driving down a road on the O’Chiese First Nation. No injuries. Under investigation.

June 15

6:36 A.M. – Anonymous call of a suspicious vehicle with the driver’s door open and a male’s arm hanging out. Police attended and arrested the adult male driver who failed the roadside Alcohol Screening device. He provided breath samples at the police detachment, which were twice the legal limit. He was released to appear in RMH Provincial Court at a later date.

1:14 P.M. – Police stopped and arrested an adult male in RMH for driving while suspended and having outstanding arrest warrants. Meth was also found. He was released to appear in court in August. The vehicle was towed and seized for 60 days.

June 16

2:07 A.M. – Report of a possible impaired driver in RMH. Police located the vehicle but the adult female driver refused to provide a breath sample and charges are pending as a result.

8:30 A.M. – Driver’s lock punched out of a FORD F350 while parked overnight in a RMH Hotel.

9:34 A.M. – Police stopped a known suspended driver on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve and located Meth, incidental to arrest. Vehicle towed and seized for 30 days.

10:54 A.M. – Report of a male driving around the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve, trying to sell firearms. The First Nations Crime Reduction Unit located the suspect vehicle. Meth, bear spray, a shotgun, and ammunition were seized. 4 individuals were arrested. Charges have been laid against two adult males and 1 female youth. One of the adult males is a known gang member who was on previous release conditions and is prohibited from possessing firearms, weapons, or ammunition. He is due to appear in RMH Provincial Court June 17.

6:10 P.M. – Report of rocks thrown through residences on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve.
