New regional police unit for southeastern Alberta

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The province has launched a new regional rural crime unit in southeastern Alberta through a partnership between Medicine Hat Police Service, RCMP and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).
The new imitative, the Southeast Alberta Property Crime Unit, was launched in April and is tasked with focusing on regional property crime, according to ALERT.
A news conference on the announcement featuring Justice Minister Doug Schweitzer scheduled for Monday was postponed to a date yet to be determined.
