Playgrounds reopen in County of Stettler

May 29, 2020 | 9:12 AM

Playgrounds within the County of Stettler may reopen starting Friday, May 29.

Guidelines issued by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services outline and remind our public the responsibility for sanitization and hygiene remains with the users of the playground equipment.

“While we are excited to see these facilities re-open and welcome children back to play, we remind everyone to follow safe practices when utilizing public playground structures,” the county says in a release.

County officials recommend parents and guardians maintain responsibility for the following:

– If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms potentially related to COVID-19, do not visit the playgrounds.

– Practice good hand hygiene; wash your hands frequently and refrain from touching your face with unclean hands.

– Carry and use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol content immediately before and after using playground equipment.

– Maintain physical distancing (2 meters or 6 feet) and limit congregating with others when entering, leaving, or visiting the playgrounds.

– If the playground appears too busy, choose an alternate location or return at a different time.

Playgrounds within County of Stettler borders were temporarily closed April 2 in response to health and safety recommendations from the Government of Alberta due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“We thank all our community partners for working with us to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities,” the county says. “We especially wish to acknowledge our citizens and children for being patient and understanding during these closures, and for joining us to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Play safe. Help prevent the spread.”
