Red Deer County opening day use areas Wednesday

Red Deer County says all of its Day Use Areas will seasonally open to the public on May 6.

However, washrooms and group use facilities within the Day Use Areas will remain closed in collaboration with the Government of Alberta’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

County Day Use Areas include:
– Taunton Hills Day Use Area at Pine Lake
– The Joffre Bridge Day Use Area
– A Soo Wuh Um Day Use Area near Penhold

Playgrounds, community centres, and recreation facilities remain closed.

Red Deer County says Day Use Areas will operate in accordance with the best practices set by Alberta Health Services prohibiting large gatherings of people and promoting physical distancing.
