Special ‘Giving Tuesday’ inspires Canadians to show unity and generosity during pandemic
An annual day of giving is encouraging Canadians to do what they can to help others who are struggling through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Giving Tuesday Now” on May 5 is designed to drive an influx of generosity in support of communities and non-profits in Canada and around the world. Organizers say it’s a call to action for citizens of the world to come together in a moment of unity and give back in this time of crisis in any way they can.
“Generosity is a powerful way to fight feelings of isolation and loneliness that many Canadians are experiencing right now,” said Teresa Marques, President and CEO of the Rideau Hall Foundation. “GivingTuesdayNow is an occasion for our country to come together and support what matters most to us as individuals, Canadians and global citizens. I encourage all Canadians to rally on this global day of action and show ourselves as a nation who comes together in times of difficulty to help and give hope to one another.”
“Across the country and around the world, we are all coming to terms with the effects of this pandemic. Caring for each other and giving back to our communities is one way we can build our resilience in a crisis,” said Marina Glogovac, President & CEO of CanadaHelps. “Generosity crosses all our divides and unites us in our shared humanity.”
