Virtual series helps local business navigate COVID-19

Several members of central Alberta’s business and economic development community have been gathering virtually these days, in hopes of strengthening a shared resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Part of a larger ecosystem, these local organizations have teamed up to deliver a four-part virtual series titled Regional Resilience.

Officials with Central Alberta Economic Partnership (CAEP) say the collaborative project ran its initial nine sessions under the umbrella of Navigating Resources and Networks focused to meet business’ immediate needs during COVID-19.

The biweekly virtual workshops received region-wide interest, attracting an average of 60 registrants per session. Each said to concentrate on one of the region’s key industries, and featured field experts and local businesses providing knowledge and answering questions on the various aid packages and programs available.

Parts two through four of the series launched by Community Futures Central Alberta, Central Alberta Access Prosperity, the Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN), MNP, and CAEP, are planned in the coming months.

Officials say future sessions are anticipated to address business needs as the COVID-19 situation evolves, focusing on adapting to the new situation, implementing changes, and growing to meet the needs of a changed economy.
