COVID Closures

Town of Sylvan Lake closes off-leash dog park

Mar 27, 2020 | 12:00 PM

Town of Sylvan Lake has now closed its Off-Leash Dog Park to further its efforts to promote proper social distancing and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Town officials say the West End Recycling Station located adjacent to the Dog Park, and access to the shared parking lot, is also now closed.

Officials say these closures are in addition to all municipal buildings and facilities already being closed, along with access to the town’s Waste Transfer Site.

Members of the public however can still reach the Town by phone, email, or online. Be advised that the Town of Sylvan Lake and Town staff continue to operate and provide municipal services to the public, while maintaining a limited service level.

Other Town closures include all playground structures, picnic shelters, and the skate park, but local parks remain open. Residents and visitors are reminded though to respect and practice social distancing measures to ensure they stay open.

Additional changes of note due to the COVID-19 pandemic include the suspension of all non-emergency animal services, and several new temporary municipal billing measures containing deferral options for utility and property tax payments.
