Police have charged five suspects for a string of robberies in central Alberta last summer.

RCMP from Leduc, Wetaskiwin and Ponoka RCMP along with the Edmonton Police Service investigated four robberies that occurred on July 14-15, 2019. Leduc investigators linked the robberies as a spree and identified all five suspects involved in all four robberies.

Within a 24-hour period, police believe the five suspects travelled from Ponoka to Millet, Edmonton and then Leduc, robbing liquor and convenience stores of alcohol, cigarettes and money. Mounties say a store clerk was assaulted with a weapon during one of the robberies.

Morningstar Northwest, 28, of Wetaskiwin, Donovan Rain, 28, of Maskwacis, Darcy Roughfoot, 31, of Maskwacis, Gordelle Soosay, 22, of Maskwacis and Brandon Morin 25, of Wetaskiwin each face multiple counts of armed robbery and disguise with intent.
