Drayton Valley RCMP report: March 12 – March 19

March 12

10:28 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver charged with failing to stop at a red light.

11:05 am – Drayton Valley – Recycle Lot – Complainant reporting they were confronted by a male while at the recycling depot. Male was throwing things at their truck and when verbally confronted, male pulled out a pocket knife. Members attended and arrested male for assault with a weapon.

11:55 AM – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting site office was broken into, windows broken. Suspects stole an unused security camera monitor, weed whacker and cardboard box of miscellaneous stationery.

12:06 PM – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting they received a phone call from what sounded like a hysterical female, then disconnected. No call back number. Appears to be from an internet number.

2:31 pm – Drayton Valley – Country Style Trailer court – Complainant advising that they left 3 cowboy hats at a residence and someone is now trying to sell them on Facebook.

3:13 pm – Drayton Valley – Scotiabank – Complainant attended the detachment with loose ID and cards which had been found in their night depository.

3:47 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer court – Complainant reporting theft of power tools from their 2014 Forest River Cargo Trailer. Suspect had broken the locks on the trailer.

4:19 pm – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Complainant reporting unwanted male. Ongoing landlord-tenant issue.

8:17 pm – Drayton Valley – 63 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Dark Grey Chevrolet Pickup has its lights off. Members attended and located known male who was subsequently arrested for attempting to steal a vehicle. 37-year-old Murlin Becker arrested and charged, held for a hearing.

March 13

6:10 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an unwanted male at the TD Bank. Male is sleeping in the ATM vestibule. Member attended and removed known male.

8:37 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Report of a break and enter to a residence. Members attended, the residence appeared to be secure and it was not clear if anyone had gained entry. The residence was cleared, nobody was inside and nothing was reported to be missing.

4:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 43A Street – Complaint of a suspicious male on the deck of a residence. Members attended and located a male who was going door-to-door offering snow shoveling in exchange for bottles.

7:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Avenue – Report of an unwanted male in the entryway of a building. Members attended, male was homeless and was warming up and on the way to the MAT program.

8:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complaint of a possible impaired driver. Members located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the driver and confirmed she was not impaired.

8:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Mackenzie Ave – Police were called to assist EMS.

11:05 pm – Drayton Valley – Stetson Motors – Passerby drove by and saw a running vehicle in the lot and reported a possible vehicle being stolen in progress. Police attended and found security on-site in the running vehicle.

March 14

12:34 am – Drayton Valley – Stetson Motors – Security called regarding a suspicious tow truck at the location. Police attended, tow truck was dropping off a broken down vehicle for the morning.

12:42 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Report of a possible structure fire. Caller reported seeing what they thought was a fire in the distance and ash falling from the sky. Police and the Fire Department attended. The only thing falling from the sky was snow and no fires could be found.

3:37 am – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer Court – Report of 3 people going through vehicles then got into a cab and left. Members attended and located the cab and identified the occupants. Area was searched, no vehicles appeared to be broken in to or rummaged through.

9:55 am – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Landlord/Tennant complaint regarding eviction issues. Advised the caller that the Landlord/Tennant Act is not a police matter and directed them to the appropriate resources.

2:08 pm – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Members were again called regarding the Landlord/Tennant issue, this time from the other side, again was advised that the Landlord/Tennant Act is not a police matter and directed them to the appropriate resources.

7:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Frank Maddock – Passerby reported hearing an alarm from inside the building. Police attended, could hear alarm, building checked and confirmed to be secure with no signs of a break-in. The property rep was advised, who attended and reset the alarm.

10:13 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of an erratic driver. Police located the vehicle at the owner’s residence. Confirmed that the driver was not intoxicated.

March 15

2:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Police were called to assist with animal control.

2:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Theft of a light bar from a truck overnight. Possible suspect identified and located; however, determined not to have been involved.

6:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Possible break and enter in progress. Police responded and located the two tenants who had accidentally locked themselves out and slid open a window to gain entry.

8:24 pm – Lodgepole – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported a possible theft from her suite. Several people have been given access to the suite making it difficult to determine who took her property.

March 16

5:20 am – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Call received regarding a female possibly high or in distress. Police attended with EMS who transported the female to the hospital for a medical assessment.

8:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complaint received from the hospital, the female that had been brought it was assessed and released but is now causing a disturbance in the hospital lobby. Police attended and arrested the female and transported her to cells where she was held until sober. The hospital did not wish to proceed with any charges.

9:31 am – Brazeau County – RR 53 – Single vehicle collision, no injuries, vehicle lost control on a patch of ice and hit a berm.

9:52 am – Brazeau County – RR 53 – Report of an abandoned vehicle. Members attended, truck not stolen, the owner was contacted and advised that they were at their farm to be safe from COVID-19 and parked their vehicle down the road due to the snow.

11:07 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – 2 vehicle collision near 57 Street. No reported injuries.

11:42 am – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Towable generator in the ditch, possibly leaking fuel. Members attended, clean up crew had already arrived to remove the generator and clean up the area.

2:13 pm – Brazeau County – Aspen Landfill – Staff reporting female trespassing, possibly looking for wire. Police attended and removed the female who was given a warning regarding trespassing. Staff did not want charges at this time.

2:30 pm – Brazeau County – Berrymoor Church – Report of a break and enter some time in the past 7 days. Unknown what is stolen or suspects at this time.

3:55 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Report of a vehicle doing donuts in the parking lot. Police attended, parking lot was empty, no vehicles observed.

4:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Dodson Plaza – Hit & run collision in the parking lot. Witness reports a white pick-up with a female driver struck a parked vehicle. Owner of the parked vehicle located, no further description was given of the white pick-up.

7:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Possible vehicle being stolen. Police attended, male suspect identified and determined to be related to the owner of the vehicle. He had locked the keys in the vehicle and was trying to get inside.

9:52 pm – Drayton Valley – Beckett Road – Report of an alarm at a residence, police attended, no issues.

10:12 pm – Drayton Valley – UFA – Suspicious person going through garbage and vehicles at UFA. Members attended, no vehicles present, but male was identified and was going through the garbage for bottles.

March 17

8:12 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a speeding vehicle, no description provided other than a white car. Patrols made, vehicle not found.

8:18 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Report of damage to the doors of an apartment building. Members attended, no obvious damage noted and the complainant was no longer on scene. After following up with the caller, did not wish any further action taken.

1:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Report of an abandoned vehicle, police attended, determined truck was not stolen and legally parked. Attempts to contact the owner unsuccessful.

3:18 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 502 – Call of a 2 vehicle collision. Police, fire, and EMS attended, determined no collision took place. One vehicle crossed the centre line and the other vehicle took the ditch. No actual collision or injuries.

4:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – 911 hang-up, common occurrence for location, no issues.

4:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 63 Street – Members called regarding a civil dispute over an outstanding payment. Members attended to help keep the peace and the parties were able to resolve the conflict.

5:06 pm – Brazeau County – RR 72 – Report of unwanted messages received via SnapChat.

6:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Independent Grocery – Possible shoplifting. Members attended, however, the suspects already left. Unknown at this time if anything was actually stolen.

8:19 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complaint of a wide load semi taking up both driving lanes.

March 18

9:10 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Panic button hit at a residence. Police attended, the homeowner hit the alarm accidentally while cleaning.

9:37 am – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Report of a male high on drugs possibly trying to steal. Police attended and identified the male who had outstanding warrants out of Drayton Valley and Leduc. The male was released. Undertakings for court.

11:28 am – Drayton Valley – Value Drug Mart – Verbal altercation between two parties after the car door of one vehicle struck the other. Police mediated with the involved parties, no damage was actually done.

12:04 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a vehicle traveling at excessive speeds and passing in the turning lane of the highway. Patrols made, unable to locate. Follow up with the business who owns the vehicle, several identical vehicles were out currently, impossible to determine which driver it was without the plate.

2:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Found possible stolen property. Exhaust system that appeared to have been cut out of a diesel truck was located behind the business. Police attended, checked serial numbers, no match to any reported stolen property. Exhaust was left with the business to recycle as scrap.

4:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court – Report of people inside a condemned trailer. Members attended, nobody present, but appears people may be squatting inside.

March 19

1:36 am- Brazeau County – Highway 621 – Vehicle located and driver charged with operating motor vehicle without a subsisting licence.

8:26 am- Drayton Valley – Highway 22 – Vehicle located and driver charged with speeding.
