Innisfail Eagles one win away from Allan Cup berth

The Innisfail Eagles are one win away from flying their way to the 2020 Allan Cup in Hamilton and Dundas, Ontario.

Innisfail holds a 3-0 series lead over the Stony Plain Eagles in their best-of-seven battle for the Sr. AAA provincial title and Allan Cup berth.

Game one on Feb. 22 saw Innisfail win 3-2 in overtime after Levi Nelson put home the winner 10:50 into extra time. Kevin Nastiuk made 38 saves for Stony Plain but was unable to record the win.

Game two Feb. 29 saw Innisfail win 6-5 to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Stony plain made it 2-0 early in the game before Johnathan Aitken scored two straight to even it up. Thomas Carr, Kurt Bensmiller and Quinton Lisoway scored after that to make it five unanswered goals for Innisfail. Stony Plain was able to come back and tie it heading into the third period, but Chad Robinson scored the game-winning goal for Innisfail with 6:00 to play in the game.
