Snowfall warning for Red Deer, surrounding areas

Mar 6, 2020 | 10:35 AM

Get your shovels ready because it appears you’ll need it in a big way this weekend.

A snowfall warning has been issued for Red Deer and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada says a Pacific weather system will move though the province starting tonight in southern Alberta before tapering off Saturday night.

Snowfall totals are expected to reach near 20 centimetres.

Over southeastern portions of Alberta, blowing snow over exposed areas may also reduce visibilities at times.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” Environment Canada suggests. “Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.”
