Cocaine seized, woman arrested in Rocky Mountain House

A 25-year-old woman faces charges after being arrested by Rocky Mountain House RCMP for drug trafficking.

At about 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while conducting patrols, the Rocky Mountain House Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) observed a vehicle being driven by a female who was wanted on a warrant.

Police initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle, which was not registered and did not have the correct plate on it, pulled into a driveway where the woman was arrested without incident.

Three vacuumed sealed packages believed to be cocaine and money were located in the vehicle.

Tara Lynn Cassie was charged with six Criminal Code offences and four offences under the Traffic Safety Act (TSA), including:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

• Fail to comply with a release order (x4)

• Operate a motor vehicle without a licence

• Operate a motor vehicle without registration

• Drive uninsured vehicle

• Display an unauthorized licence plate

Cassie was held in custody and is scheduled to appear today (March 4) in Rocky Mountain House provincial court.
