Man tackled by patrons during attempted bar robbery set to resolve case
The case for a man charged with trying to rob the Blackfalds Motor Inn on Halloween night is headed towards resolution.
It was at 12:42 a.m. on Nov. 1 when RCMP responded to a 911 call that a man was being held by bar patrons after he fired a shot during a robbery attempt. Responding officers took the man into custody.
Mounties said a single gunshot shot appeared to have been fired during the robbery attempt, but not at a person, while another shot was discharged during a struggle for the gun. No one in the bar was injured from either of the gunshots.
Ryan Allan Bell, 27, from Red Deer is charged with 14 counts, most of them firearms-related, including discharge firearm while being reckless, careless use of a firearm and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.
