DAYCARE EXTENSION
Province extends some child-care programs longer than expected

EDMONTON- The Alberta government says it is extending some $25 a day child-care programs until June instead of ending them in March as expected.
Some daycare operators say the decision still puts pressure on their operations because it’s difficult to plan without knowing the province’s long-term plans.
The program began under the NDP government in April 2017 with 22 operators in the province.
It was expanded a year later to include an additional 100 daycare centres and was supposed to run for three years.
