Red Deer photo radar locations Jan. 1-31

Dec 30, 2019 | 8:32 AM

Red Deer RCMP Traffic Services has released the planned locations of its Automated Traffic Enforcement Program for next month.

From Jan. 1–31, mobile units will be operating in Glendale, Normandeau, Highland Green, Riverside Meadows, Pines, the downtown core, Waskasoo, Woodlea, Parkvale, Bower, Anders, Morrisroe, Inglewood, Vanier and Lancaster.

Mobile units will also be operating along the traffic corridors of 30 Avenue, 40 Avenue, 48 Avenue, Taylor Drive, 19 Street, 32 Street, Ross Street, and Riverside Industrial Drive.

Intersection Safety Device Cameras will be set up at 50 Avenue & 59 Street, 32 Street & 30 Avenue, 50 Avenue & 67 Street, and 50 Street & 30 Avenue.

The City of Red Deer’s Automated Traffic Enforcement Program includes photo laser, red light cameras and intersection speed cameras.

According to City officials, these tools, along with conventional traffic enforcement and education campaigns, help make Red Deer’s roads safer.

By reducing speed, both the number and severity of collisions is reduced.

Automated Traffic Enforcement will be operating in areas where speeding has been identified as a community concern, there has been an identifiable, documented history of collisions; a high volume of pedestrians; and areas where conventional enforcement is ineffective or unsafe.

Please note, RCMP reserve the right to change the site locations without notice.
