Drayton Valley RCMP report: Nov. 28-Dec. 6

November 28

8:30 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – A cab driver attended the detachment with a 4-year-old child they had located alone on 50 Street. Police with Child and Family Services located the residence and after investigating the circumstance in the home, the child was moved into the custody of the grandfather.

1:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 St – 2 vehicle collision, vehicle backing up and struck a parked vehicle. No injuries.

1:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – 2 unknown people with covered faces crawled under a locked gate of a business and stole 2 spools of copper wire.

4:05 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Members observed 26-year-old William SHAW breaching his conditions. Police attempted a traffic stop and SHAW fled at a high rate of speed, running red lights and making his way into town. The vehicle was located abandoned a short time later and SHAW was located walking down the street. SHAW was arrested and has been charged with flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, 4x weapons offences, and 5x breaches of previous release conditions. SHAW was remanded into custody for court December 3, 2019.

8:04 pm – Brazeau County – RR 65 – Single vehicle collision. Truck went off the end of a dead-end road. Members attended, no signs of impairment, the driver was not aware the road did not go through and was unable to stop in time. No injuries.

November 29

5:40 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of an injured deer on the road. Police attended and euthanized the injured animal.

9:43 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Report of fraud by an ex-employee who placed an unauthorized order for over $50,000. The business was able to cancel the order before suffering any loss and only wished the ex-employee spoken to and warned.

1:28 am – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court – A male entered the back yard of a residence and took a bag of empty cans. The male was followed by the complainant who called police. Members identified the male who agreed to pay for the bottles and was charged provincially for trespassing.

3:01 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Single vehicle collision with a deer. No injuries reported by the driver.

5:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Theft of a red/white 1990 GMC Sierra, Alberta license plate BSM-1196 sometime overnight.

November 30

6:36 am – Drayton Valley – Request from Rocky Mountain House Detachment to attempt to locate a male that had committed several offences in their area, including a domestic assault. The male was later located by Drayton Valley RCMP and arrested. Charges are currently pending against the male and he is currently being held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

8:08 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Members received a complaint that the complainant believed he had rings/earrings stolen by a female. Had no evidence to believe the female took them, just a hunch. This is the same people members have dealt with 20 times in the past 3 months.

10:10 am – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Report of an impaired driver, passed out in the middle of the driving lane. Police attended and arrested a 30-year-old male from Sherwood Park for impaired driving. The male was brought back to the detachment where he provided breath samples of 240 and 230 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood, about 3 times the legal limit. The male was released for court on February 4, 2019 in Drayton Valley.

9:10 pm – Drayton Valley – 44A Ave – Noise complaint. Members attended and spoke with the owner of the property who was apologetic and advised they would keep it down. No further complaints received.

December 1

9:18 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting 2 individuals on a peddle bike inside a business. Would like them removed. Members attended, no persons located in the building. Members patrolled area, individuals not located.

10:13 am – Drayton valley – 53 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Licence plate expired the previous day. Driver detained along with passenger for theft of motor vehicle and breach of recognizance. Search of vehicle provided weapons and several drugs.

3:18 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they were bit by a dog while delivering a package. Possible fraud as they do not want police involved.

December 2

6:47 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting their truck was stolen. Black 2006 F350 with Black bumper and chrome sparrow on the front. Large slip tank in the back. Key had been left in vehicle.

3:11 pm – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of vehicle, brown 2009 Montana. Vehicle not stolen, just misplaced.

6:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Parties from earlier complaint causing a disturbance. Members attended, parties were arguing over wifi passwords and accusing each other of stealing.

9:24 PM – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Disturbance at address previously attended by members this day. Members attended, room mates are having an argument and the one won’t let the other into the bathroom to shower. One party was arrested and taken to cells for the night.

9:39 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on their child as they had heard through a third party that there may be issues. Member attended and spoke with parent, child had been spanked, no injuries.

December 3

9:17 AM – Drayton Valley – Library – Complainant reporting vandalism at the library. They advised that a male came into the library last night and asked to use the phone, then started yelling and swearing at someone on the phone. When they left they broke the doors as they were locked and they pushed through them.

9:29 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting a break and enter to garage sometime between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m. Man door was kicked in and red quad stolen. Members attended and tracked the quad to a property north of Drayton Valley. 2 males arrested, 34 year old Sheldon Thompson and 28 year old James Roblin were charged with Break and Enter and 2 counts of Possession of Stolen Property. Both were held for a bail hearing and remanded.

1:03 pm – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Complainant reporting pushy salespeople in a dark blue Toyota pathfinder. 2 males with a security company trying to convince people to buy their services. Member confirmed company was legitimate. Advised to curb their tactics.

1:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting harassment since the previous Saturday. Complainant stated that a delivery man has been following her and texting her after their dog apparently bit them. Member contacted male and advised that if they continued with their harassment that they would be charged. Advised to go through proper channels with regards to the dog bite.

December 4

9:44 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting a theft of UFA card which has been used over the past year totalling over $6000. Card stolen from Drayton Valley and used in several locations.

10:52 am – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting their room mate has barricaded the door after they went for a walk. They are in the process of moving out. Members attended residence with complainant so room mate could obtain belongings.

December 5

2:18 am – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Commercial alarm going off. Members attended and located known male who was arrested for Break and Enter.

7:09 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting theft of 2005 GMC Z71 pick up truck, dark blue. Key had been left in vehicle.

10:48 am – Brazeau County – RR 65 – Complainant reporting suspicious people inside a yellow truck. Member attended and located vehicle. Occupants advised they had been kicked out of their apartment and are headed to Red Deer. Had pulled over to spend the night. Member advised them to leave as they were on private property.

2:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a disturbance. Female is in middle of street hitting the ground. Members attended and located known female who was arrested for outstanding warrants.

5:28 pm – Drayton valley – Industrial Road – Complainant reporting someone broke into their apartment and stole Christmas gifts. Door was not locked.

December 6

1:51 am – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol conducted traffic stop. Driver arrested for Impaired Driving.
