HOLIDAY MAGIC

The Nutcracker takes centre stage at Red Deer College this month

Dec 7, 2019 | 3:40 PM

Toy soldiers, a battle of mice, and the magical performances of central Alberta’s best young thespians will feature later this month on the RDC Arts Centre Mainstage.

Director and choreographer Tania Strader, who is in her 20th year with the production, says the cast of Christmas classic The Nutcracker is a quality one she’s very proud of.

“It changes a lot (over the years) with how many dancers are involved. We used to have about 30. Now we get anywhere from 60 to 80. We’ve also increased our costuming and scenery,” Strader says. “Our cast (this year) is so young. With the help of an excellent crew, we put on a great show that is worth peoples’ time.”

The Nutcracker Ballet on the RDC Arts Centre Mainstage has the following showtimes:

Friday, December 13 | 12 p.m. – School matinee & 7 p.m. public performance

Saturday, December 14 | 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Sunday, December 15 | 1 p.m.

Tickets are available at www.rdc.ab.ca/tickets.
