Man charged in fatal pedestrian crash on Highway 2A

Charges have been laid after a vehicle versus pedestrian crash along Highway 2A claimed the life of a local 35-year-old man.

The collision occurred just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 24, south of Blackfalds near Township Road 393.

RCMP say the man was walking on the side of the highway when he was struck by a northbound truck.

The victim, Raymond McKnight of Red Deer, was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital. He died from his injuries on Dec. 2.

The 73-year-old male driver of the truck was arrested on scene and has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. His name has not been released.
