Male youth arrested in Red Deer RCMP high-risk arrest

Charges are pending against a 16-year-old male after police executed a high-risk arrest in Red Deer’s Eastview Estates neighbourhood on Monday.

City Mounties responded to an address on Ellenwood Dr. at 1:35 p.m. to reports of a possible stolen vehicle at that location.

Cpl. Laurel Scott says responding officers located two people inside the suspect vehicle, which she confirms was not stolen but did have license plates that were reported stolen on Nov. 21.

“Members did a strategic, high-risk arrest in relation to two people in a vehicle with a stolen license plate,” she explains. “A male and female subject were arrested on scene. It was very controlled, tactical, and no risk to anybody else.”

Scott says the male youth faces one count of possession of property obtained by crime, while a 29-year-old woman arrested at the scene is not facing any charges.
