Drayton Valley RCMP report: Nov. 14-21

November 14

9:15 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/RR71 – Several calls received regarding loose gravel on the highway causing a hazard. Members attended gravel company driver was located and issued a ticket under the Commercial Vehicle Regulations.

1:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 63 St – Complainant called to report a bag stolen earlier in the day and that his wallet was inside. Debit card used several times before he was able to cancel it. Under investigation.

4:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a report of an armed male at a residence. RCMP attended and the immediate area was contained. The situation was resolved at approximately 6:30 p.m., without any injuries. Under investigation.

November 15

1:18 am – Drayton Valley – Boston Pizza – Members were called to Boston Pizza after a customer sucker punched another without warning. Members obtained a name and description of the suspect, who had left. Members located the male at the Derrick Lounge. The suspect refused to cooperate with police and was arrested for assault and obstruction and placed in handcuffs. The suspect became aggressive and assaultive with police while being secured in the police vehicle. Paul Beekman, 31, of Edmonton has been charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer, obstruction and causing a disturbance.

6:46 am – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported his grey 2018 Audi RS3 with Alberta plate CBP1603, stolen overnight. Under investigation.

7:19 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported that overnight a company owned Kenworth bed truck was stolen. Complainant was able to track the vehicle via GPS and advised it was in the Barrhead area. The truck was located by Westlock RCMP and a 42-year-old male from Drayton Valley was arrested. Numerous charges are either pending or being considered against the male related to offences in Drayton Valley, Sangudo and Westlock.

1:56 pm – Brazeau County – Brazeau Dam area – Complaint received that a tower site was broken into overnight and batteries stolen.

4:09 pm – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported a break and enter to their secondary residence. Members attended, significant damage, property stolen, under investigation.

6:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complaint received regarding ongoing issues with neighbour due to lack of curtains on a bedroom window. Related file received shortly after from neighbour alleging mischief and attempted assault by original complainant. Mischief charge laid against the original complainant.

8:06 pm – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Request to assist paramedics with a suicidal male who may have overdosed. Members attended, male having suicidal thoughts but agreed to go to hospital with a family member. Members ensured this happened.

November 16

10:33 am – Drayton Valley – File opened to assist Lethbridge Police in locating a female who may be in Drayton Valley and has outstanding warrant from Lethbridge.

4:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Complaint of shoplifting of a chocolate bar and scratch ticket. Under investigation.

11:05 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 near UFA – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver who “launched” his SUV into the ditch. Members attended, driver passed a roadside screening device test, vehicle towed from ditch.

November 17

7:29 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported having been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend earlier in the morning. A statement was obtained alleging multiple assaults. Suspect not located at the time, warrant applied for.

9:04 am – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a truck having struck a mailbox, ended up stuck on a rock. Second complaint received from owner of company whose truck hit mailboxes. Member attended, truck slid on ice and hit mailboxes. Mail collected and returned to post office.

1:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Complainant reported that the shoplifter from yesterday had returned. Members attended and a 22-year-old male was charged with shoplifting.

8:42 pm – Brazeau County – Blaze Road area – Members attended to a report of an oil tanker having slid into the ditch. No injuries or spill, oil offloaded into another truck by company involved. Road conditions poor at the location.

November 18

4:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported a hit and run to his truck while it was parked on the street

4:30 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported a semi truck and a car both passed the school bus while it was stopped with red lights out. As per complainants both parties were warned.

7:08 pm – Brazeau County – RR64 – Complainant reported that while at work for the day his residence and car were both entered, when he came home both his house and car were open. Did not appear anything was taken.

November 19

7:37 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that his truck was broken into overnight while parked behind a hotel. Gym bag stolen. Under investigation.

10:12 am – Brazeau County – Report of a lease site and vehicle broken in to in the past three days. Tools such as a torque wrench, 50’ air hose with air chuck, tire chains, bolt cutters, socket sets, Dewalt cordless drill and grinder and many other misc tools were stolen.

12:37 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Wanted male observed at a residence. Members attended and contained the residence, male surrendered without incident. William Shaw, 26, was wanted out of Drayton Valley and Edmonton for multiple offences, including: Flight from a peace officer, escape lawful custody, 3x uttering threats against a person, 2x assault, theft under $5000, 2x fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance, and other provincial offences. Shaw appears in court on December 5.

November 20

12:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Theft from the bed of a truck, occurred overnight. A Burton snowboard, snowboard boots, blue Burton snow pants and two snow jackets (one dark blue with orange accents, one black with white accents) were stolen along with some tools that were recovered on scene.

12:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Theft from an unlocked motor vehicle overnight. Change and a satellite radio stolen.

2:44 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Trailer on a tractor-trailer rolled over, leaked contents. Fire attended to assist until site could be cleaned up.

November 21

2:02 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – A wanted male was observed outside 7/11. Sheldon Thompson, 34, was arrested without incident for his outstanding warrant for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle out of Drayton Valley.
