Wexit Alberta plans to run federally

EDMONTON- The leader of the western separatist movement Wexit Alberta says he intends to run candidates federally under the name Wexit Canada, in addition to provincial candidates in Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Peter Downing says the hope is to hold future referendums on separation in those provinces.

Around 750 people gathered in a Calgary high school gym for a Wexit rally Saturday night.

Downing says he plans more rallies later this month in Alberta, as well as in Saskatchewan in the new year.
