Drayton Valley RCMP report: Nov. 7-14

November 7

11:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Report of a fraud, complainant put down a deposit via e-transfer on a dog posted on Kijiji; however, when she arrived to pick up the dog in Edmonton the person at the residence did not know what they were talking about and was not selling a dog.

3:04 p.m. – Brazeau County – Elk River Road – Report of a collision from the night before between a pick-up truck and a wild horse.

3:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43A St – Stolen Alberta license plate PLN879 sometime overnight, no surveillance.

6:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – A light bar was stolen from a truck that was parked at a hotel for the night. The owner was not sure of the brand or serial number of the vehicle. Members are trying to obtain video surveillance.

November 8

9:08 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Two vehicle collision at the intersection of Twp 514. No injuries.

9:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Theft of wallet. Complainant left the wallet on the front step, a few minutes later it was gone and saw two people walking down the alley, confronted them and they returned the wallet.

12:05 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk – Wellbeing check requested on a female at a residence. Members attended, the female was not at the residence, but a male wanted for assault with a weapon was located and arrested and held for a bail hearing. The female was later located and was unharmed.

1:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Centre Court – Members attended to keep the peace during a property dispute. It was determined one of the involved parties had outstanding warrants out of Edmonton Police Service and was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

8:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Intoxicated male harassing customers. Members attended and advised the male he needed to leave and offered him a ride home, which he refused, and left on foot. The male was again called in to another business on 50 Ave at 3:44 a.m. The male was arrested for mischief and lodged in custody until sober.

11:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – While on foot patrol, members observed a male that appeared to be attempting to steal a truck. Members confronted the male when he was already inside the truck and recognized him from recent previous dealings. Members identified themselves and directed the male out of the truck. The male refused and revved the engine while trying to get it into gear. Police broke out the driver’s side window in an attempt to stop the male; however, he fled at a high rate of speed away through two controlled intersections. A warrant is being sought for the male’s arrest for flight from police and other traffic related offences.

November 9

1:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Report of 10 people fighting in front of the Derrick Lounge. The crowd quickly dispersed when members arrived on scene.

2:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Two people looking into vehicles, possibly trying to steal the vehicles or contents. Members attended and located one male. A thermostat was located on him and returned to the owner. The male was transported to the Econorest.

7:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Kenworth semi tractor-trailer stolen from a hotel overnight. Tractor Alberta license plate CDH3526, trailer Alberta license plate 55U286.

1:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 42 Ave – Report of a barking dog. Owner spoken to and warned about bylaws.

4:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Pleasant View Trailer Court – Complaint of a disagreement between landlord/tenant. Members attended and advised the landlord to follow proper eviction procedures and if necessary, consult the landlord/tenant act.

8:19 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Report of a possible impaired driver, vehicle in the ditch, driver smells of alcohol. Members attended, roadside test administered and failed. Driver arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver was transported to the detachment to provide breath samples and was later released for court on December 17, 2019.

November 10

3:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Lost wallet. Police attended, found wallet with several different pieces of identification in different names. Investigation is ongoing.

9:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Theft of a 2002 white Chevrolet Silverado and a 2014 red Honda TRX500 quad. The truck was recovered a few hours later in Breton area; however, the quad is still outstanding.

3:15 p.m. – Brazeau County – Powerhouse Road – Stolen vehicle recovered on a remote lease site.

4:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Report of cows on the road, while enroute, members were called to a priority file. Breton Detachment attended to wrangle the cows.

10:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Report of theft of kittens last week. Determined to be a civil matter.

November 11

1:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Report of two slashed tires on a vehicle. No witnesses or video surveillance was located.

7:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Report of someone trying to break into a vehicle. Members attended, the person was no longer on scene, but the vehicle that was being broken into was stolen out of Calgary and recovered.

2:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Impaired driver reported on Highway 22, located at Walmart. After failing the roadside screening device, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the detachment where they provided breath samples exceeding the legal limit. The male driver was released for court on January 7, 2020.

November 12

09:00 a.m. – Brazeau County/Parkland County – Three calls of collisions with deer. While deer at this time of year are unpredictable, RCMP are reminding drivers to slow down and be aware of the posted deer signs. Those signs represent areas of high deer traffic.

09:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 62 St and 37 Ave – Report of mischief. Police were called for a report of a fraud known as the “ransom scam”. The fraudster was using an auto dialling feature to tie up company phone lines for a fee. Telus and Rogers were made aware and the file is still under investigation. 3:58 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave 50 St – Report of two people fighting in front of a business. The fight was over bottles in a bag. No injuries. Police attended. The two parties were known to RCMP. One person had a warrant and was arrested and released for a future court date.

November 13

08:08 a.m. – Brazeau County – Local tow yard was broken into and a truck was stolen and recovered later in the day. Several vehicles were broken into but nothing reported stolen. Police have suspects, however no arrests have been made at this time.

08:46 a.m. – More deer collisions reported. Reminder, a collision over $2,000 needs to be reported to police.

1:39 p.m. – Brazeau County – Police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy 22 and Hwy 39. Airbags were deployed but there were no injuries. When police arrived on scene, the driver of one of the vehicles was found to be intoxicated. A breath demand was given and the driver was arrested. Driver allegedly had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. Charges were laid and he is to appear in Drayton Valley Provincial Court in December.
