Parkland Institute founder speaking in Red Deer about a future without fossil fuels

The founding director of the Parkland Institute will be speaking at Red Deer’s Welikoklad Event Centre.

Dr. Gordon Laxer’s presentation, which is free for the public to attend, is called “What’s next for Alberta? The Green New Deal: A way forward for a future, free of fossil fuels.”

It goes this evening (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m.

The event is being facilitated by the Council of Canadians’ Red Deer chapter.

Laxer is a professor emeritus at the University of Alberta where he taught from 1982 until 2013.

His most recent book is called “After the sands: Energy and Ecological Security for Canadians,” which was a finalist for the 2016 John W. Dafoe prize for non-fiction.

He is currently writing two research reports, a release states, for the Council of Canadians, also an organization he has been involved with in Edmonton since 1985.
