Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board seeking new members
Applications are now being accepted for new members of the Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board (RARB). This board is responsible for issuing decisions on complaints related to property assessments across central Alberta.
Thirty-two central Alberta municipalities are a part of the Central Alberta Regional Assessment Review Board. The board is an impartial, independent body comprised of citizen members that hear and issue decisions on formal complaints from property owners who disagree with the assessed values of their property within the partner municipalities.
“Our board members have been of a diverse group of central Alberta residents – from retired assessors to lawyers. There is no formal training required to apply, just a keen interest in property assessment,” said Samantha Rodwell, Deputy City Clerk. “The board is instrumental for ensuring municipalities have access to qualified, experienced and unbiased board members.”
A committee of member municipalities selects board members. Once selected, they will receive mandatory training provided through Municipal Affairs and will receive remuneration for their responsibilities and time spent serving on the board.
