Red Deer building permit values remain lower than last year

Building permit values were down significantly in Red Deer last month, despite an increase in the total number of permits issued.

According to City officials, 106 permits were issued in October with a combined value of just under $6.7 million. This compares to 101 permits issued in October 2018, worth a combined $33.5 million.

In addition, officials point-out year-to-date totals are nearly half the value as during the same period last year.

January to October 2019 has seen $103.2 million in permits issued, compared to $199.2 million during the same period in 2018.

Notable permits for October include construction of a new divider wall and lighting at the Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Montfort Centre, valued at $1.5 million and construction of a cold storage accessory building in the Queens Business Park, valued at $600,000.
