EDMONTON- Alberta’s election commissioner has fined a Calgary businessman accused of transferring $60,000 to Jeff Callaway’s United Conservative leadership campaign.

A notice posted to the Office of Election Commissioner says Robyn Lore was fined $17,000 for using his Agropyron Enterprises to provide the money to Callaway’s communications director and colluding with Callaway to circumvent or attempt to circumvent a contribution limit.

The notice says Agropyron has been fined $8,000 for making a prohibited campaign contribution.

A total of 15 people including Callaway have been hit with penalties for their role in financing the so-called kamikaze campaign targeting Jason Kenney’s main rival, Brian Jean, before Callaway dropped out.
