A trial has been ordered for a man charged with second-degree murder for a death at the Sunchild First Nation late last year.

Evan Ernest Foureyes, 30, is also charged with assault with a weapon and kidnapping stemming from November 9, 2018.

That’s when Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to an incident at the Sunchild Gas Station where a male victim was found suffering from serious injuries following an altercation. The victim, 23-year-old Arley Creed Lagrelle, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Two other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.

Trial for Foureyes was ordered following a preliminary hearing held this week in Rocky Mountain House provincial court. Dates for the trial have not yet been scheduled.

Jamie Whitford is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in relation to this case. He is scheduled to have a jury trial in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench Oct. 5-Oct. 23, 2020.
