TOWN PROPERTY FOR SALE

Former Ponoka Visitor Information Centre for sale

Oct 23, 2019 | 7:16 AM

PONOKA- Town Council has declared the property that previously housed the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) as surplus property and set a sale price on it of $385,000.

The building includes main floor office spaces, a large kitchen, storage rooms and two washrooms.

The sale price was set based on the appraised market value of the property in accordance with the Town’s Land Disposition Policy.

The VIC building has been vacant since October 2018 when the Town’s Planning & Development Department relocated to the new Ponoka Civic Building.

Widespread use of the internet had largely replaced the need for the centre as visitor numbers at the facility diminished over the years.

Tourism information about Ponoka and the central Alberta region is now available on display racks in the entrance to the Ponoka Civic Building and at the Calnash Ag Event Centre.

The property will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Parties interested in purchasing the property are required to submit a letter of intent to the Town along with a 10% deposit on the sale price.

For more information, interested parties should visit the Town of Ponoka Office at #200, 5604-50 Street, or call 403-783-0121.
