The City of Lacombe is looking at the possibility of a balanced budget next year.

On Tuesday, city administration presented council with the 2020 Provisional Operating Budget that includes revenues and expenses both totalling $44.7 million.

Also included is a 1.4 per cent municipal tax increase, which for a home assessed at $380,000 would result in a $42.07 increase for the year ($3.50/month).

Utility rates for a home consuming 18 cubic metres of water, and receiving weekly garbage pickup, would see an increase of $1.73 per month.

The total impact of the proposed changes for an average home in Lacombe in 2020 would be $5.23/month.

Meantime, the proposed 2020 Capital Budget includes 49 projects, 29 of which city administration says were anticipated in prior years, with 20 new projects recommended for consideration.

Six projects that were previously identified for 2020 have been reprioritized, combined, or eliminated.

The anticipated 2020 Capital Budget totals an estimated $11.7 million.

The proposed budgets will be considered by city council during workshops next month.
