Upcoming AHS health workshops

RED DEER – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is inviting local residents to attend supportive a number of health information workshops that are helping Albertans make positive adjustments to their lifestyles.

The workshops are offered as part of the Alberta Healthy Living Program, an initiative designed to promote healthy living and provide easy access to helpful information.

Workshops cover a range of information, including heart health, weight management, nutrition, diabetes care, chronic illness management and more.

Each workshop is free of charge.

Upcoming workshops in Red Deer include:

  • The Truth about What Works in Weight Management
    Learn to evaluate what you are eating; learn strategies to help lower your calorie intake, explore meal patterns, food choices and portion size, as well as discover foods that can help manage weight.
    Nov. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Nutrition: I Know I Should Eat Healthy, But How?
    Learn tips on how to put your nutrition knowledge into practice with the four Ps: plan, purchase, prepare and pack.
    Nov. 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Nutrition: Eating Away From Home and on Special Occasions
    Learn how buffets, parties, vacation and holiday eating can affect caloric intake and explore strategies to minimize extra calories when eating away from home and during special occasions.
    Dec. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Nutrition: The Top Five Tips To Reduce Calories
    Learn the top five ways to lower calories and practise new strategies.
    Dec. 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Workshops will be held at Bethany Collegeside, 99 College Circle.
