Rocky RCMP Report: Sept 12- 19

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of September 12-19, 2019.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

September 12

1:30 P.M. – Complaint of a scam in which a Clearwater County resident was messaged to buy $12,000 worth of untrackable Google cards so that the scammers could unlock his cell phone.

1:43 P.M. – Complaint from a Clearwater County resident advising that 2 individuals were seen attempting to break into an oilfield lease site on Range Road 5-3. Subjects left in a beige FORD pickup truck. Subjects located and arrested by Red Deer Crime Reduction Unit.

3:45 P.M. – Call of 2 males wearing hoodies, seen outside a RMH residence with guns & then walking up the alley. Police attended and arrested 2 adult males who have been charged with Break & Enter and weapons offences.

6:57 P.M. – Report of an assault which occurred at a residence in Clearwater County. Police attended and arrested an adult male for assault. Charges pending.

7:24 P.M. – Dirt bike stolen from a residence in Caroline recovered by owner from an unknown person who was trying to sell it on “Buy & Swap”

9:58 P.M. – Police called to assist a RMH CPO at the skateboard park. A youth was arrested for assaulting a Peace Officer. Charges pending.

11:06 P.M. – Call of a suspicious intoxicated male, in a grey Saturn car, stopping by a residence in the Withrow area, and asking to “borrow” gas. Numerous items seen in the car including chainsaws and power tools. Last seen heading towards Leslieville.

September 13

1:09 A.M. – Impaired Driver was arrested on Hwy #11 and Range Road 4-5 after failing roadside screening device. The local male individual blew over the legal limit and will be appearing in RMH court at a later date.

2:36 A.M. – 911 call of 4-5 males, on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve, breaking into a residence and using bear mace on the residents. Subjects fled prior to police arrival. Matter is under investigation.

6:48 A.M. – Call of a male who showed up at a RMH residence high on meth and in a stolen truck. Police attended and arrested the individual who was charged with numerous charges, including possession of stolen property and breaching previous release conditions. He was remanded in custody for a future.

8:37 A.M. – B&E to a construction site office north of Hwy #11 on Range Road 4-3, where a company is building a bridge. Under investigation.

10:25 A.M. – 911 call of a bank robbery in Caroline. Man in a mask went in the bank and demanded money before leaving with an undisclosed sum of money. Under investigation.

12:11 P.M. – Report of an attempted theft of a vehicle at a residence in Caroline. Complainant found his doors unlocked and a screwdriver stuck in the ignition.

1:08 P.M. – $100 worth of groceries stolen from residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve.

1:47 P.M. – Residence broken into on Range Road 6-5, Clearwater County.

6:32 P.M. – While on patrol on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve, police observed a male on a bicycle who was wanted on outstanding warrants. When arrested the individual was found to have methamphetamine on his possession. Further charges pending.

September 15

00:38 A.M. – 911 call of a group of teens in 4 vehicles hanging around the arena, setting off firecrackers & swearing. Complainant approached the youth who were disrespectful and said they didn’t care.

12:24 P.M. – Call from Nordegg Fire Department, who were at the scene of a collision on Hwy #11 & Forestry Trunk Road, advising that a truck had stopped driven by an intoxicated male. Police attended and arrested 3 individuals who had outstanding warrants for their arrest. The driver was arrested for impaired driver & refused to provide breath samples.

2:00 P.M. – Emergency beacon activated in the Hummingbird area. Male on a horse had been bucked of and required medical attention. SAR & EMS responded along with STARS who extracted the individual.

September 16

8:20 A.M. – Report of a suspicious male & female in a vehicle on Range Road 5-0, south of Hwy #11, entering a farm and asking for gas. They gave a suspicious story of why they were in the area and then attempted to steal gas. Police located the vehicle, which didn’t have a licence plate, in the area but it fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle sideswiped a police unit before going through a stop sign and crossing SecHwy #761 where it came to a stop. The female surrendered to police but the adult male driver ran into the woods where he was apprehended by Red Deer Police Dog Services. After receiving medical attention, the local 36 year old adult male was charged with numerous offences including assault PO, Dangerous Driving, and Breaching Previous Release Conditions. He is being held in custody for a future court date in RMH.

4:01 P.M. – Theft from an oilfield site in Clearwater County. Chain was cut on the gate and a snow blower, shop vac, and pressure washer were stolen.

September 17

3:18 A.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Under investigation.

9:21 A.M. – Report of a stolen licence plate from a rural residence when it was discovered by the owner who had received a ticket in the mail.

1:02 P.M. – Licence plate reported stolen off a RV while parked at a Clearwater County residence.

September 18

8:40 A.M. – Attempted vehicle theft on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. Culprit fled on foot when confronted by owner.

10:52 P.M. – Report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway on Hwy #11A & then took off eastbound. Police located the vehicle and arrested an adult female for impaired driving. She refused to provide breath samples and charges are pending. One intoxicated passenger was also arrested and was released when sober (RWS) while the other intoxicated passenger was taken to the hospital.
