OLDS- On September 18 at 8:45 pm, Olds RCMP, Fire and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 2A south of Olds at Township Road 320.

An SUV had rolled into the ditch after it exited Highway 2A during a severe thunderstorm.

The vehicle sheared off a power pole as a result of the crash.

The female driver was found unconscious and trapped in the SUV.

Upon extraction, she was transported to the hospital in Didsbury where she was airlifted by STARS to Calgary hospital with serious injuries.

Two passengers were transported to hospital via EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

The collision resulted in a temporary closure of Highway 2A at the Olds/Didsbury Airport and traffic was re-routed for a period of about three hours.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation but RCMP believe severe weather to be a contributing factor.
