More than 200 arrests made in Red Deer’s Downtown this summer
Red Deer RCMP have made 214 arrests in the Downtown this summer.
Several units, including general duty, the downtown unit, traffic, and community peace officers participated in the targeted enforcement efforts.
With the arrests, 422 criminal charges were laid, there were 364 warrants executed, and 31 stolen vehicles were recovered. Another 574 provincial tickets were handed out, and police responded to six bylaw offences over their 1,337 patrol hours.
“Downtown is a priority area in the RCMP’s Annual Policing Plan. By establishing target-based enforcement in the Downtown, our officers were able to make inroads into reducing crime in the downtown,” said Staff Sergeant Jeff McBeth, Acting Operations Officer.
