Red Deer RCMP investigating early morning break-in

Red Deer RCMP are looking for two suspects following a break-in at a south-end gas station early Tuesday morning.

Mounties confirm it happened at around 4:40 a.m. at the Fas Gas Plus on 22 Street in the East Hill Shopping Centre.

Police say the suspects backed up a Ford pickup truck to the front doors of the gas station, hooked the doors up to the truck and pulled them off.

The suspects are then alleged to have backed the truck up a second time and hooked up the store’s ATM to the truck before attempting to drive away with it.

RCMP say however, the ATM broke apart and the suspects were unable to get any cash from it. An attempt to gain access to the store’s cigarettes was also unsuccessful.

Mounties say the store suffered significant damage but no damage estimate is available at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Police say their investigation continues.
