Tarzwell lifts Rebels to preseason win over Lethbridge
Josh Tarzwell scored in the third period to lift the Red Deer Rebels to a 3-2 WHL preseason win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday night at the Westerner Park Centrium.
The 18-year-old Red Deerian’s goal midway through the final frame was his second of the night. The former Hurricane also scored the first Rebels goal of the game with 1:57 left in period one after Rylan Thiessen had scored at the 9:48 mark for Lethbridge.
Brett Davis scored 1:04 into period two, with Tarzwell earning an assist, for a 2-1 Rebels lead before Alex Thacker replied at 3:24 for the Hurricanes.
Veteran goalie Ethan Anders got the start in net for Red Deer and gave up two goals on 15 shots against. Eric Ward, for the second time this week, posted a clean sheet in relief by making 13 saves.
