Rocky Mountain House murder suspect makes court appearance

The man accused of killing a Rocky Mountain House woman and injuring her sister last month made a brief court appearance this week.

Marshall Lawrence Stone, 44, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Ashley Smith-Ames, and one count of attempted murder of her sister, Alexis Ames.

Stone was in court on Wednesday and is due to appear again on September 25.

It was on July 26 at 7:36 p.m. when Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to several 9-1-1 complaints of a male with a gun in a residence.

The male had left by the time police arrived. One woman was found dead and another injured. Three children inside the residence were not injured.
