Weekly RCMP report August 15-22

August 15

9:47 a.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting theft of grounding cables from compressor station

10:39 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting 200 metres of Telus Communication cable valued at just under $5,000. Suspects cut and stole “live” cable along RR 72 causing an outage that affected approximately 680 voice customers.

2:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant calling to report suspicious phone calls from RCMP detachment number. Person states that if they don’t go to the RCMP they will be arrested. This is a scam. Complainant advised not to provide any money or personal information.

August 16

6:13 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting tampering with power meter. Member attended and took photos of meter. Still under investigation.

August 17

6:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting an attempted break-in to a residential property. Damage to the front door. Ongoing issue, door now heavily secured.

August 18

2:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle observed driving erratically. Refused to provide sample of breath when requested. Vehicle towed and male charged with Refusal.

5:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Poplar Ridge – Structure fire reported in trailer court. Member attended, neighbouring properties cleared.

7:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Continuum Health Care – 911 call received. Member attended, EMS on scene.

8:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – Brazeau Dam – Complainant reporting their 2012 Arctic Cat 2000cc orange and black quad was stolen.

9:03 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting their transport truck was rear ended by a Brazeau County truck. Member attended, road side breath test resulted in a ‘caution’. Three-day driving suspension, vehicle towed.

12:36 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting a break and enter to Gas Plant, copper and foil taken. Access gained through side gate.

3:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Wiley West Campground – Complainant reporting theft of coin dispenser from ladies’ washroom. Approximately $100 taken.

4:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Wiley West Campground – Complainant reporting a break and enter to their travel trailer. Some jewelry and an ipad were stolen.

7:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Powerhouse Road – Traffic stop conducted on a vehicle in which the plate when queried came back as stolen. Driver advised that they bought the vehicle in Calgary, received plate from friend so they could get home. Three children in the vehicle. Vehicle not stolen, driver issued a ticket.

August 19

3:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Bumper to Bumper – Complainant reporting a truck with no headlights on. Member conducted traffic stop and noted a smell of liquor. Roadside breath test resulted in a ‘caution’.

4:51 a.m. – Drayton Valley – APEX – Complainant reporting someone entered the shop by breaking the window then unlocking the door. Member attended, window in the garage door broken. No signs of entry.

8:31 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 64 – Complainant reporting theft of 700 metres of Telus Communications cable valued at approximately $1,731. Live cable stolen caused an outage affecting approximately four voice customers.

8:49 a.m. – Home Away Inn – Complainant reporting stolen welding cable from truck. Suspects cut the remote cable left on the ground.

8:59 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a break and enter overnight at a lease site. Duffle bag with reflector gear is missing. Entry made through the north gate. Lock cut off. Damage to door handle to office.

10:17 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Kal-tire Parking lot – Complainant reporting a break and enter to business over the weekend. Suspects climbed over the barbed wire fence and broke into four customer cars. Various tools missing.

4:13 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of wire, approximately 5 metres of grounding cable stolen sometime over the past week.

6:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they found a side by side in the bush down a quad trail. Member attended, side by side had been reported stolen in May of 2018.

August 20

12:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an erratic driver entering town from the highway at excessive speeds. Member conducted a traffic stop, signs of impairment, road side test refused. Driver charged with impaired, vehicle towed.

1:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Service Plus Encore – Complainant reporting theft of their 2005 dark grey Chevrolet Duramax Diesel. Vehicle has black hood and black front bumper. Member attended, neighbouring detachments were advised to be on the lookout for it.

9:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Damage to drop-off box at a business. The box was pulled off the building and pried open and the contents stolen.

1:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Police were called to a complaint of an impaired semi driver. Police attended and after investigating the driver was ordered to provide a breath sample which he refused to do so. The driver was arrested for failing to provide a breath sample and released for court, charges are pending.

8:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Holiday Inn Express – Police were called to an intoxicated male at the hotel. When police arrived the male was no longer there.

9:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Aspen Motor Inn – Police were called to the same intoxicated male, now at the Aspen Motor Inn. Police attended and located the male who was quite intoxicated. The male was arrested and held until sober.

August 21

8:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St industrial area – Report of a suspect hiding in the woods near a break and enter. Stolen items located. Police dog services assisted with tracking the suspect. Suspect was located, charges are pending.
