Drayton Valley weekly RCMP report August 1-7

August 1

9:19 am – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complaint from employee of a business regarding issues with dumpster divers and other undesirable folks hanging around the area.

9:42 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/53 St – Complaint of a break and enter to business. Complainant reporting that three times in the past month bathrooms have been entered, culprits stole soap and caused damage.

12:29 pm – Brazeau County – RR82 near Hwy 620 – Complainant requesting assistance after getting her SUV and travel trailer stuck. Complainant reports road under construction, not driveable and should be closed. Member attended and SUV towed with assistance of a bulldozer. County advised of very poor road conditions

6:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a driver in a grey car trying to hit a cyclist. Cyclist heard yelling “stop trying to hit me, I didn’t do anything to you.” No plate obtained and minimal descriptors provided. Members patrolled the area and spoke to several cyclists, neither party located, no other reports received.

August 2

10:00 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Hwy 39 – Complainant reported that hoses on a vacuum truck were covered in rocks which were spraying off. Complainant stated that he called the company, who “didn’t seem to care.” Under investigation.

10:38 am – Drayton Valley – Highway 22 – Complainant reported a break and enter to commercial facility overnight. Two-way radios stolen along with several smaller items. Under investigation.

1:11 pm – Drayton Valley – Center Court – Members attended to a residential alarm due to several sensors being activated. Residence was secure though a cat was observed inside looking potentially guilty

2:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reports her vehicle hit while parked at Canada Post. Witnesses supplied some information. Under investigation.

August 3

9:49 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported that an elderly man in a white Chevy pickup appeared to not have good control over his vehicle. Complainant was concerned he shouldn’t be driving. Driver not located, but police are aware of the senior and have received multiple prior complaints. An additional report was sent to Alberta Transportation requesting an assessment of the elderly man’s ability to drive.

1:25 pm – Brazeau County – Violet Grove – Hangup 911 received from a residence. Call back made, complainant advised her adult son got out of control, damaged a couple of doors and left in a vehicle. Members attended to investigate and patrolled for the area but the suspect wasn’t located. Under investigation, charges pending.

3:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave at Tim Hortons/Shell – Police attended a collision at the location. A man driving a pickup started to back up after his wife noticed their Tim’s order was wrong. The driver was unaware that a woman in an SUV was now behind him. She honked the horn but the he was unable to stop. The SUV suffered extensive damage and the woman was treated for minor injuries. Other driver issued a ticket.

August 4

11:00 am – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant attended the detachment to report his Polaris Ranger RZR stolen from his garage. Complainant wasn’t sure when the theft occurred, sometime over the past two weeks.

3:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 44A Ave and 47 St – Police responded to four separate complaints, all related. Unknown female suspect stole a 2004 F350 from a residence on 44A Ave, then proceeded to hit two parked cars on 47 St, causing damage to the stolen truck, including a flat tire. Members located the stolen truck abandoned in the bus loop by Evergreen School. Witnesses report the suspect was talking on a cell phone when she hit the parked vehicles. Still under investigation.

7:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Anonymous female reported a male came at her with a tazer. Members responded and detained a suspect. A search failed to locate a tazer, but a small quantity of meth was seized after being located in the common bathroom.

11:31 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Complainant reported two males dragging a steel gate up the road behind a pickup truck. Members attended and spoke to one of the males who said that a grate had fallen off his trailer and he couldn’t get it back on. The second male had assisted by pulling it to his residence.

August 5

7:30 am – Drayton Valley – new Evergreen School – Complainant reported that miscellaneous tools and cables had been stolen from the construction site over the weekend. Under investigation.

7:09 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer Court – Residential alarm. Members attended and found the back door unlocked and located a person inside the residence. After speaking with the owner of the property it was determined the person inside was house sitting and forgot to leave the alarm code.

August 6

7:51 am – Brazeau County – Aspen Landfill – Trespassing female on the premises refusing to leave. Members attended, female arrested on outstanding warrants and transported to the court house.

8:13 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Break and enter to a secure yard some time overnight. Fence cut and several tool boxes damaged. Unknown if anything is missing at this time.

11:38 am – Drayton Valley – All Choice Rentals – Break and enter to the yard, unknown suspects cut the fence and appeared to have used a vehicle, possibly an ATV to attempt to steal property which was located nearby.

4:58 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue/62 Street – RCMP, and EMS attended a two vehicle collision. Occupants were assessed on scene but no injuries were reported.

11:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Break and enter in progress to a business. Police attended and located a possible male suspect in the area who was identified and arrested on an unrelated warrant. Investigation determined the suspect was not involved in the break and enter.

August 7

1:17 am – Brazeau County – Twp 500 – Theft of copper wire from a gas plant. No vehicles or people seen in the area.

2:56 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reported finding a number of items missing after being gone from her residence, suspects estranged husband. Under investigation.

9:03 pm – Brazeau County – Willey West gravel pits – Request to assist EMS with a man who was injured after crashing his dirt bike. Members attended but EMS had already transported the 26-year-old man to hospital. Later determined that the initial call had been received at 8:40 pm but was dispatched to Slave Lake due to an error on GPS coordinates.
