Smart Communities Pilot

Drayton Valley partners with Telus to help address safety concerns through technology

Jul 22, 2019 | 11:59 AM

The Town of Drayton Valley is teaming up with Telus to undertake a Smart Communities initiative in hopes of increasing security and addressing safety concerns through the use of technology.

Town officials point-out the community was one of the first in Canada that TELUS invested in for the PureFibre network upgrade, making it one of the most connected PureFibre communities in the country.

With the advanced infrastructure in place, officials say the community will be well positioned to be a test-bed for new Smart Communities technology trials to address a variety of priorities including crime.

A public open house regarding the Smart Communities initiative pilot program will take place July 31 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Conference Centre in Drayton Valley (5745 – 45 Avenue).
