Clayton Jardine can add another item to his already impressive hockey coaching resume.

The Lacombe native was named on Thursday to the Canada West as video coach for the World Junior A Hockey Challenge in Dawson Creek, B.C. from Dec. 7-15.

The 28-year-old was named SJHL Coach of the Year in 2018-19 after guiding the Kindersley Clippers to a 36-16-4-2 record in his rookie season behind the bench.

In May, Jardine was named head coach of the AJHL’s Camrose Kodiak where he won two league championships as a player.

“It’s exciting to see our coaches moving into new roles with the two Canadian teams at the World Junior A Challenge, and to welcome coaches who are new to international competition,” said Brent Ladds, Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) president. “We believe this year’s coaching staffs for both teams will benefit the players selected to participate, and bring their international experience back to their club teams.”
