Drayton Valley weekly RCMP report May 16-23

May 16

8:19 a.m. – 44 Avenue, Drayton Valley – Break and enter to a garage occurred sometime overnight. Several items taken including a laptop, bicycle and medications.

9:21 a.m. – 50 Avenue, Drayton Valley – Attempted theft of truck. Sometime overnight unknown suspects drilled the lock and ignition of a 2004 Chevrolet Duramax, however it appears the suspects were unsuccessful in starting the vehicle.

10:42 a.m. – 54 Street, Drayton Valley – Attempted theft from motor vehicle. Sometime in the last two days, unknown suspects punched the lock on the trunks of three vehicles, however it does not appear entry was made. Unknown if anything was stolen.

1:25 p.m. – 51 Street, Rocky Rapids – Theft of tool box from box of truck. Unknown if it was locked, no signs of forced entry.

4:13 p.m. – 53 Street, Drayton Valley – Fireworks reported to have been fired from an apartment window, narrowly missing the complainant and vehicles, however no further injuries or damage was reported.

4:26 p.m. – Brazeau County – Report a dog left their yard and entered a nearby farm property and injured a foal. When police arrived the dog was with the owner and the vet attended and euthanized the foal. The investigation in relation to the dog owner is ongoing.

10:30 p.m. – Highway 620 – Single vehicle rollover. Police, fire, EMS and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement all attended the scene of a single vehicle that left the roadway and rolled several times. The vehicle was unoccupied when first responders arrived on scene. An extensive search of the area was conducted; however, any possible occupants appeared to have already left the area. Given the close proximity to Lodgepole, it was believed the driver walked to a residence there. It is unknown if drugs/alcohol were a factor. The investigation in identifying the driver is ongoing.

10:39 p.m. – 44 Avenue, Drayton Valley – Report of two males firing flares in town. This resulted in a grass fire starting in the area and Drayton Valley Fire attended and extinguished the small blaze. The investigation is ongoing.

May 17

9:05 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a lease site was entered and four batteries stolen along with some ground cable. Access was gained by cutting the chain on the gate.

9:30 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting four batteries stolen from a lease site. Ground cable cut, but not taken. Chain link fence was pulled back.

9:58 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting locked gate to lease site was cut and a large amount of cable including ground wire and teck cable was stolen from compressor building.

10:22 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting lease site was entered and fire extinguisher stolen.

10:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Park – Complainant reporting their white CCM mountain bike was stolen. Bike has a black piece of plastic sticking out from the rear tire on the left which has a hole in it to anchor the lead for a dog.

10:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a female with long hair and a blue ball cap is stealing from the store.

1:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a male is in a stolen black vehicle. Members attended location, vehicle fled. Complainant would not cooperate further.

1:21 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting an erratic driver. Vehicle is same vehicle reported stolen which fled from members. Members patrolled area, vehicle not located.

1:45 p.m. – Brazeau Da.m. – Complainant reporting theft of utility trailer stolen. There was also a ride on lawn mower, chainsaw and various tools stolen from a camp site.

7:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Service Plus Encore – Complainant reporting theft from silver 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Rear side window was broken. Stolen were glasses and tools approximately $1,000.

9:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a female is walking into traffic, screaming at the light poles. Members patrolled and located known female who was provided a courtesy ride to Econorest. Female advised that if further reports were received she would be arrested.

11:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting black and red bicycle was stolen from front of residence.

May 18

5:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Member on patrol observed three males running in back of alley. 25-year-old Michael Ruesch arrested on outstanding warrants. Search of Reusch revealed a loaded flare gun with 12 gauge ammunition in it.

9:10 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of a truck and trailer overnight. Red 2007 Ford F150 with a goose neck trailer stolen. Truck and trailer located near Rimbey in bush.

9:23 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reporting suspicious male on premises carrying a jerry can. Member attended and male provided ticket as suspended from driving.

9:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting theft of black BMX Capix bike stolen sometime over night. Bike was in a locked shed. Lock on shed broken off.

11:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious males in a blue Ford Ranger. Knocked on the door after no answer, then climbed in through the front window and came out the front door carrying unknown objects. Members patrolled area, vehicle not located.

11:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant is reporting their vehicle possibly stolen. Someone had advised the complainant that they had seen their vehicle by BCMI. Members patrolled area, vehicle was located. Vehicle had not been stolen. 29-year-old Mark Kennedy was arrested on outstanding warrants.

12:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Cardium Theatre parking lot – Complainant reporting possible impaired driver. Vehicle is a red Pontiac car. Members attended and located vehicle and driver at their residence. Driver intoxicated.

2:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – TOPS – Complainant reporting a shoplifter. Member attended, suspect is a male, heavy set, wearing a blue jacket and white cap. Stole approximately 7-8 packages of MacSweeney’s beef jerky.

4:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 Street – Complainant reporting their 2009 Forest River Toy – Hauler tent trailer and their 2014 Skidoo were stolen from their yard. Entry made to fenced yard. Trailer and skidoo were stolen while complainant was away for a couple of nights.

5:36 p.m. – Brazeau county – Complainant reporting break, enter and theft from Holiday Trailers. List of stolen items being prepared.

8:21 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members requested to assist Fire and EMS with a grass fire threatening propane tanks. Member attended, Fire Department had fire under control.

8:55 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver arrested for impaired driving. Driver refused to provide breath samples. Vehicle towed.

9:55 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting cows on the highway. Member attended and spoke with owner, cows put back into enclosure.

May 19

4:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Curfew check completed on prolific offender. Not at home. Offender has breached their conditions and charged accordingly.

7:51 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complainant advising of a suspicious vehicle, possibly related to a crime at Trans Alta shop a few weeks ago. Member attended and located vehicle with one male occupant. All documents checked and valid. Female has been discharged from hospital and took off once saw members.

10:16 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of quads from campground at Brazeau Dam. – One quad is a 2007 Suzuki Racer, the other is a black and red 2014 Yamaha.

12:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Beaver Estates – Complainant reporting someone stole their licence plate from their 2014 Silver Chevy Duramax 3500.

7:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a fire started by a male 20 – 30 years-old, red hair, grey winter coat, blue jeans. Male located and arrested for arson. Provincial ticket issued.

9:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – Complainant reporting a male is screaming at the top of their lungs. Members attended and located a female who was high on drugs. Very uncooperative and belligerent.

May 20

5:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – Complainant reporting male and female in a white dually were trying to run people over. Members attended, complainant was very upset and was unable to calm down and speak rationally. This is an ongoing situation which members have been dealing with for several months.

7:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 7-11 – complainant reporting suspicious person is using stolen credit cards. Suspect is a female approximately 5’5”, wearing a grey cap, black jacket and black leggings. Attempted to purchase some items on a prepaid credit card. Attempted to use tap, when it didn’t work, took out another card.

8:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Willey West Campground – Complainant reporting their 2018 Dodge Ram had been stolen from the campground. Vehicle had been unlocked and keys had been left in vehicle. Vehicle was recovered shortly after and towed to DV Towing.

9:59 a.m. – Brazeau County – Willey West Campground – Complainant reporting several thefts from the campground overnight. Several vehicles had been entered and property stolen.

2:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Dollar Tree – Complainant reporting a suspicious male approximately 40 – 55 years old wearing a black hat, green camo pants and a black bag is harassing customers. He has a sign saying that the owners are judgemental and has Swastika’s on it. Member attended. Male refused to provide name to officer. Male arrested for mischief and obstruction as he had yelled at and berated the staff in the store. Male released on conditions of no go to store.

2:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – Complainant reporting a break and enter over the window. The window of the garage was broken and tools stolen.

3:34 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members were called to a single vehicle roll over. Complainant found the driver walking away from the vehicle in a ditch. Member attended with EMS. Driver was impaired. Given a 24-hour suspension and ticket.

5:40 p.m. – Brazeau county – Complainant calling to report 50 feet of ground cable and two batteries stolen from lease site.

7:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant advising that a stop sign is down at the corner of Hwy 620 and Hwy 22. Highways advised.

11:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Mitchell Drive – Complainant reporting a person going through vehicles. When confronted, suspect left on foot. Members attended location and made patrols. Vehicle located near a lease site. 53-year-old Wayne Luck was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, mischief and possession of a weapon. 40-year-old Caroline Labonte was arrested and charged with theft and possession of heroin. Both were held for a bail hearing and released by Justice.

May 21

1:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant advising of a fire at the golf course. Fire involves a one-ton vehicle. Members had just observed vehicle leaving town while at previous complaint. Members were dealing with the burnt vehicle which was being towed when advised. Tow yard had been broken into and a previous stolen and recovered vehicle had been stolen. Vehicle located at Omniplex parking lot later in morning.

8:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Foundation Dodge – Complainant advising that two vehicles had been broken into overnight.

9:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting their black 96 Dodge with an eight-inch lift was stolen overnight. Truck had a full black slip tank of diesel and tools.

9:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious silver Jeep is parked down the road. Vehicle was associated to a previous file in which two persons were arrested.

2:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Galaxy Apartments – Members received a 911 hang up from a female who sounded like they were in distress. Members attended, statements taken, male suspect had taken off on foot. Members located male while patrolling area, male took off on foot, but was apprehended after a short foot chase. Arrested was 30 year old Tyler Hanna. Hanna has been charged with several counts of assault and was held for a bail hearing.

8:14 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a possible impaired driver. Driver was observed drinking from a dark brown bottle while waiting at construction area. Complainant advised they observed the vehicle cross the centre line several times and speeding. Vehicle located and stopped.

May 22

11:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Complainant reporting a lost or stolen Petro Pass fuel card belonging to Cream Compression. The card has been used in Drayton Valley, Edmonton and Athabasca. Fuel amount totalling $3,933.92.

4:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer Court – Animal Control officer requesting assistance as there were two vicious dogs attacking people in trailer park. Member attended, unable to verify that the suspected dog was the issue.

May 23

5:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Best Western – complainant reporting their 2003 brown F250 was stolen sometime overnight.
