UFA supports Delburne community groups

United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) has stepped up to offer a financial boost to seven different community groups in the Village of Delburne.

Officials with HWY 21 Corridor Crime Watch say $10,000 was donated by Miller Petroleum UFA at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner April 16 to help support ongoing activities for the chosen groups.

Among those groups was the HWY 21 Corridor Crime Watch Society which received a donation of $2,000.

“Rural Crime affects us all, this donation is an example of what can be accomplished when municipalities, business, law enforcement and citizens work together towards a common goal,” says Ray Miller, Chair of the HWY 21 Corridor Crime Watch, in a press release. “These funds will be used to facilitate enhanced communication and evidence collection with the Three Hills Detachment of the RCMP.”

“We saw an opportunity to not only give back to the community, but also have an impact on a significant problem that affects everyone!” adds the UFA’s Joe Miller.

Other groups to receive financial support included the Delburne Community Hall Society, Delburne and District Curling Club, Delburne and District Agricultural Society, Delburne Agriplex Arena, Delburne 4-H Beef Club and Coaltrail Riders 4-H Club.

The Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was hosted by the Village of Delburne and Delburne & District Family and Community Support Services to recognize the efforts of those who take an active role in enhancing the community.
