Non-profits reminded to submit tax exemption applications

Local non-profit organizations are being reminded to submit their paperwork in order to maintain tax exempt status with the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

This week, council reviewed properties in Rocky that are eligible, or have previously been granted property tax-exemptions.

In 2018, 58 organizations were exempt from just under $1.3 million in property taxes in Rocky Mountain House.

So far only three nonprofit organizations have submitted their applications on time for the 2020 taxation year. The deadline to do so is November 30, 2019.

In the meantime, Council has decided that current non-profits can keep their tax exempt status for 2019. Some organizations and government bodies do not have to file an annual application due to their status.
