Man charged in ‘armed and barricaded’ incident

UPDATE (2:30 p.m. – April 8)

Charges have been laid against the man arrested by RCMP in a stand-off last Thursday night.

The incident took place at the man’s residence on Galbraith Street in the Glendale neighbourhood.

Police originally stated the situation involved a male who was armed and barricaded.

Christopher Sinclair, 36, is facing a total of 24 charges, including assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 15.

ORIGINAL (7:30 p.m. – April 4)

Red Deer RCMP have arrested a man after an incident in the city’s Glendale neighbourhood Thursday evening.

Police initially asked the public to stay from Galbraith Street around 7:30. They had said that a male was armed and barricaded.

Though the area is safe to return to, police remained on scene overnight to complete their investigation.

The man is schedule to appear in court for the first time today, and then the RCMP will release more details around what he’s been charged with.

The public is thanked for its cooperation.
