On the campaign trail today, Sarah Hoffman, Alberta NDP candidate for Edmonton-Glenora, says UCP Leader Jason Kenney must fire one of his candidates caught spreading hate in a 2013 recording.

Hoffman’s call for the firing of Mark Smith, UCP candidate in Drayton Valley-Devon, comes after comments surfaced in which he compared homosexuality and abortion to pedophilia.

United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney announced in Turner Valley his party’s job creation plans for the energy sector.

Kenney says the plan includes a royalty guarantee, support for natural gas, well remediation, faster approvals and petrochemical diversification.

Alberta Party Leader Stephen Mandel announced from Calgary the party’s plan to secure a new route to the Alaska coast for Alberta products.

The party says it would build a rail and pipeline corridor to the 49th state to give Alberta long-term coastal access.

Leader Stephen Mandel says B-C would be bypassed as Alberta pursues a northern corridor.

Alberta Liberal Party Leader David Khan released his party’s mental-health and addictions policy from Calgary on Tuesday.

Khan says Alberta Liberals would increase spending to 9 per cent from 6 per cent on mental health and addictions, invest $150 million in new spending immediately and redirecting $450 million in spending over four years.
