Campaign Trail: Major party leaders in northern Alberta
Here’s a look at what party leaders are doing Wednesday as they continue campaigning for the April 16 provincial election…
NDP Leader Rachel Notley has pledged to build a new access highway to Fort McMurray and complete Alberta’s High Load Corridor network. She says these projects will create 7,500 jobs, increase safety and prepare for growth in value-added energy. Notley also committed to building a new evacuation route for all communities between Anzac and Fort McKay.
The NDP is pledging to complete the Alberta High Load Corridor network. It’s hoped the expansion will support oil and gas development in northern Alberta, as well as the booming renewable energy industry in southern Alberta where more, larger wind turbines are being transported. The six-year, $1.35-billion expansion is anticipated to create 7,500 jobs and add 3,500 km to the corridor across Alberta, for a new total of 10,000 km.
United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney is in Lac Ste. Anne County to announce the party’s rural crime strategy.
