Christenson Sports & Wellness Centre Canalta Play Centre

It has come to Town Council’s attention that staffing and usage of the Christenson Sports & Wellness Canalta Play Centre is an issue.

The play room operates on the premise of parents pre-booking their spot in the room. Since there is no set hours of operation, the inconsistency has resulted in a high staff turnover.

Communications coordinator for the Town Laura Button, says Council wants to see all Town facilities used to their maximum potential and the model of scheduled and drop-in childminding hasn’t been effective.

Since September of 2018 there has been less than 10 inquiries on when and if the Christenson Sports & Wellness Centre will be staffing the room again.

Town Council will be consulting with non-profit organizations about possible partnerships to increase the utilization of the Play Centre and bring back options, terms and conditions to the May 7th Council Meeting.

Button adds Council hopes a partnership will increase awareness in the community that the Play Centre is there and available for use.
